Veterans Day at Brooklyn Navy YardCelebrate Veterans Day in Brooklyn with a tour of the truly one-of-a-kind Brooklyn Navy Yard. This unique museum is celebrating its 3rd birthday and features 25 million bucks worth of high-tech museums, event spaces and outdoor views. Did I mention that they really do-it-up for Veterans Day? Events and activities begin at noon on Saturday, November 9. Unable to make it for the Saturday’s soiree? Brooklyn Navy Yard will also be open Sunday and Monday (Veterans Day) from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Brooklyn Navy Yard: Past, Present and Future

This informative exhibit encompasses the 165+ year life and impact of the Yard. Housed in three floors of Building 92, tour-goers learn all about the generations of workers who helped shape the Yard into what it is today, and who continue to help it thrive. You’ll also tour Today’s Yard Gallery – featuring the 15 business who currently call The Brooklyn Navy Yard their home. Brief, 90 second videos introduce you to these entrepreneurs and their invaluable contributions.

Designing the Future

Also housed in Building 92, the Designing the Future exhibit showcases Brooklyn’s best and brightest design and engineering students. This exhibit exists in a constant state of metamorphosis, as Brooklyn Navy Yard highlights the stream of inventive ideas and products produced by local youth.

Gallery 92 sits on the 3rd floor of Building 92 and features an ever-changing cast of exhibits showcasing tenant work, new collections and materials, art and historic collections.

Veterans Day at Brooklyn Navy Yard

Join Brooklyn Navy Yard on Saturday, November 9th in celebrating our nation’s brave heroes. Veterans Day activities include a Family Craft Table where guests can make tribute flowers to honor Veteran service and decorate the tribute wall. Happy Hour drink prices are available to everyone with a military ID – allowing for discounted beer, wine and eats at on-site restaurant, Ted & Honey. There will also be many free exhibits during the Veterans Day celebration. Veterans and their families may enjoy a complimentary special tour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – The Can Do Yard: WWII at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. And a Career Strategies Workshop will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to assist veterans in transitioning their numerous military skills to today’s workplace – advance registration required for this event.
